Exceptional Polynesian Tribal Tattoos
Polynesian tribal tattoos come from Polynesians, which are the native dwellers of New Zealand. These inhabitants came from the eastern part of Polynesia between the AD800 and 1300. To the new land, they came along with their rich Polynesia cultural practices and beliefs, not forgetting their exceptional tribal tattoos.
Ta moko, which means tattoos in the Polynesian language, were the traditional Polynesian tribal tattoo lines that carved on people’s faces and other body parts and tattoo artist did them using serrated or sharp bone chisels from sea birds. While the entire tattooing procedures were tremendously horrifying, long and painful, they were religious events. In the olden days, tattooing was normally accompanied by poems chanting contemporary flute music performances to help the wearers ease the pain caused by the tattoos as artists chiseled their bodies with curvy patterns and lines. Owing to the intensity of pain brought on by different body movements, the wearers will be unable to eat solid foods until they recover from their facial wounds.
